Ayano
Painting, Performance Art, Photography
Ayano Hattori (b. 1986, Niigata, Japan) lived in Singapore in 1991-1992. Pursuing a B.A. in Painting at Musashino Art University, Tokyo, 2005-2009, she joined performance art festivals both in Japan and overseas. She was also educated as a teacher of Japanese as a second language, at the Human Academy, Tokyo, 2008-2009. Having moved to Singapore in 2009, she is currently a student of English Language for the Creative Arts, at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, 2009-2010 and an expected candidate for the M.A. Fine Art, LASALLE Collage of the Arts, Singapore, 2011-2010.

Singapore is where I lived when I was five years old. That is one reason I decided to come here, to explore this as a creative experience. Yet, needless to say, there is more than one reason that I create art. Connected to this place by my childhood memories, I’m changing day by day through new experiences in Singapore, which remains a new place. Having been engaged with performance and painting, I am interested in exploring performance itself, working across various media, such as photography and painting. My work often deals with issues surrounding the final representation of performance.
