FAQ

1. What is the maximum number of artworks that each artist can submit?
Each artist may submit up to 5 artworks of different series.

2. Are art collectives allowed?
Yes, art collectives are allowed, but a maximum of 3 persons in the group.

3. Are we allowed to create new artworks?
Yes, any artwork that is created before the Open Call deadline is considered an existing artwork.

4. Do we include the actual artwork when submitting the artwork proposal?
No, actual artworks will only be required for selected artwork proposals. Selected artists will be informed by email. The selection process may/may not include an interview.

5. Will the exhibited artworks be returned after the exhibition in UK?
Yes, WEYA will return all exhibited artworks.

6. May Permanent Residents apply?
No, only Singaporeans may apply.

7. May Singaporeans who are studying or working overseas but not in UK apply?
Yes, all Singaporeans are welcome to join the Open Call.

8. What about sound works?
Any work that falls under visual art with aid of audio or sound, i.e. new media art, is acceptable. However, pure sound works do not fall under any categories for our Open Call.

9. Is ‘Situation, Place and Identity’ the theme of the Open Call?
Situation, Place and Identity is the optional suggested theme from SCYA. You may choose to follow or not follow the suggested theme.

10. Is there a maximum number of artworks within each series?
No, there is no maximum limit to the number of artworks in each series. Each series is considered as one artwork.

11. What kind of video formats do SCYA accept?
We accept .mov, .mkv, .mp4 and .avi formats. All videos should be in HD.

12. What should I do if my video files are too big to be uploaded to Dropbox?
You may snail mail your video files (HD please) in a DVD to us @ 90 Goodman Road Blk B #03-08 Singapore 439053.
